Peyton Jamison announces candidacy for Milton City Council

MILTON, Ga. — Peyton Jamison, a Milton small business owner and current Planning Commission Chairman, announced his candidacy for District 1, Post 1 on Milton’s City Council. The seat is currently held by councilmember Karen Thurman.

Jamison said he is seeking office to restore Milton’s rural character and provide a new vision for the city’s direction.

“As a husband, father and small business owner, I feel compelled, now more than ever, to serve the City of Milton in a new capacity,” Jamison said. “If we want to preserve Milton’s character, it’s time for leadership that isn’t afraid to stand up for our residents and community.”

“Our zoning laws were implemented to protect our City, and many of our elected officials aren’t following through – it’s time for a change,” he said.

Jamison has also served as the president of the Crabapple Community Association.

“Milton became a city ten years ago with the vision to give residents more say in their government, to preserve our unique heritage and to offer a quality of life that positions us a top place to raise a family. Today that vision is being threatened, and it’s time for a new voice that will fight to ensure Milton can prosper and that vision realized,” he said.

His objectives if elected are to commit to zoning rules, investing in road and intersection improvements, ensuring responsible use of the greenspace bond resources and protecting Milton’s quality of life.

“I intend to offer Milton families a renewed commitment to the vision Milton was founded upon,” Jamison said.
