ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A man was found in possession of heroin after police initially pulled him over for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.

Alpharetta police officers were patrolling late May 2 on Old Milton Parkway, when one officer noticed a car quickly exiting a hotel parking lot without yielding to oncoming traffic.

They stopped the driver, 28-year-old Scott Rausch of Cumming, to question him about his erratic driving.

Rausch told police that he had dropped a friend off at the hotel.

Police told him that he was being issued a warning for traffic violation and asked if he had any narcotics. Rausch said that there was an open needle with heroin under one of the seats.

Police did find a bag with heroin residue and a needle. Rausch was arrested without incident for possession of heroin.
