MILTON, Ga. – Milton Theatre Company presents “9 to 5 The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. Milton Theatre Company will stage six performances beginning Thursday, March 16 – Saturday March 18 and concluding Thursday, March 23 – Saturday March 25. All performances will take place at 7 p.m.

Based on the seminal 1980 hit movie, “9 to 5” is set in the late 70s. This hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex-era is outrageous, thought provoking and even a little romantic. The musical opened on Broadway in April 2009 and received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations — the most received by a production in a single year — as well as four Tony Award nominations.

The talent of Milton Theatre Company explodes on stage in this hysterically funny, singing and dancing extravaganza.

David Hopkins directs the Milton production with assistant director, Renee Denney. Sim Jones is the Technical Director, along with Drew Bowers as the Musical Director and Chris Shumick as the Orchestra Conductor. Bubba Carr wraps up the creative team with his upbeat choreography.

“I love the fact that the three main characters find a way to change their circumstances,” Denney said. “One of my favorite songs in the show is ‘Change It,’ where the women are convincing their coworkers that they can change their lives if they just try. As the song goes, ‘there’s a brand new world out there for those who care to claim it, a better day is on the way, but only you can change it.’ Dolly Parton’s music will make you want to dance and sing along.”

The show is entered along with 60 other high school productions in the prestigious Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards that recognize excellence in Musical Theatre.
