JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — The snow that blanketed Johns Creek over the weekend made for a winter wonderland in the city with areas reporting up to 8 inches.
As the snow began to accumulate on Friday morning, Fulton County schools dismissed around noon, and classes were cancelled through Monday due to the threat of ice on roadways. All after-school and weekend activities, including athletics, were cancelled over the weekend and on Monday.
Mount Pisgah Christian School dismissed at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8. The school was open with normal hours on Monday, but the school said due to potential dangerous road conditions all absences would be excused.
The city’s offices, including the municipal court, closed at 1 p.m. on Friday but were open for normal business hours on Monday. Park Place at Newtown Park closed on Saturday, postponing the Breakfast with Santa event until Dec. 16.
The city began mobilizing trucks to treat the roads Friday night, with plow trucks on standby. Crews treated the roads throughout the night and into Saturday morning. Work crews continued to monitor road conditions throughout the weekend.
